“Only little people pay tax”
I can’t help but read something into the figures that have been talked about in the news lately. This might not be completely accurate, but it’s significant enough for me to post it on my blog. Let’s put this into perspective,,,
UK Deficit = 170bn
Rate of tax on transactions paid by you & me (VAT) = 20%
Rate of tax on transactions paid by Bankers & Investors (people like Nick Clegg & David Cameron’s fathers) = 0%
Projected amount raised by 0.1% Europe wide tax on transactions for the Banks = 50bn
Predicted amount that is raised from transactions in London would be 80%
80% of 50bn = 40bn
If the tax was instead brought into line with the amount that me & you pay, let’s take a little look at how much would that be if it was introduced only in the UK.
20 is 200 times bigger than 0.1
40bn x 200 = 8000 Billion!
Subtract from that the amount of our governments deficit 170bn, and you are left with a Government surplus of SEVEN THOUSAND EIGHT HUNDRED AND THIRTY BILLION POUNDS!
And that’s just in one year. We only need to introduce this tax for 1 year and all our problems will be solved! We’ll even have enough money left to fix our Hospitals, our roads, our failing education system, abolish university fees, bring back grants, open factories, loan to small businesses, employ more Doctors, Nurses, & Teachers, more people to find cures for Cancer, buy back the trains because they are fucking shit, build lots of houses, collect our rubbish every day of the week,,,,, like they do everywhere else, subsidise school lunches so that we aren’t killing our kids with toxic junk food, build a massive statue of a Guitar in Trafalgar Square,,, cause we fucking rock!
And we’ll still have enough money left to buy us all a crate of beer each, some bunting and let us throw a massive fucking street party to celebrate this country, how amazing it is and how great all the little people working away to keep us all happy day in & day out are.
Of course I keep saying ‘we’, that’s what would happen if ‘we’ were in charge. Unfortunately it’s ‘them’ and they are all a bunch of cunts.
